Hello Team Kingsway 1st October
Thank you all for another great week at school. It has been really great to see how far the children have come in just a few weeks.
Day by day the children build upon their learning, mastering the skills they need to help them make progress. This is why it is especially important that all children attend school regularly. We are aware that, from time to time, illnesses will strike and that there may still be some disruption from Covid. However, in the first few weeks of term unauthorised holidays being taken have reduced some children’s attendance to below 70%. This is well below the 96% attendance needed for children to make good progress and achieve their full potential. It is awful to watch children struggling to catch up with their peers, both socially and academically, when returning from absence. As a school we will do all that we can but we can not catch up time or experiences lost. If there is any support you need, from school or other agencies, in order to help improve your child’s attendance please get in touch.
Just a couple of reminders for this week…
Please make sure that you continue to use our one-way system as this has certainly helped getting everyone through and into classes promptly each morning now that we are back to our normal start once again
Any absences need to be reported to the school office. Office hours are 8.30am – 4.30pm (4.00pm on Fridays) but you can email at any time to office@kingsway.notts.sch.uk and your message will be picked up once the office opens.
For the safety of everyone, if your child comes to school on a scooter or bike please make sure that they get off their scooter once they reach the main gate on Kingsway and walk it through to park in the racks. No scooters should be ridden on school grounds as we have had a couple of bumps and wish to avoid this.
We hope that you have a great weekend and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
Thank you to everyone for their support.
Mrs Bradbury and everyone at Kingsway
